Organic Food Tax Write Off

I am finally preparing to have my taxes done this evening. Thats right, I did put it off until the last minute. I was contemplating what to write about for todays article while in the back of my head, thinking about what I will need to bring to the tax office tonight. I remembered a great idea that I had about this time last year about our taxes and the purchase of organic food.

You hear about it in the news, on TV shows and from politicians that Americas getting fat. Its not just the weight as much as it is our overall health that we should be concerned about but in todays economy it is very difficult for many people to eat healthy. It certainly helps to have an incentive in mind when deciding to switch to a healthy diet and many people are still skeptical about switching to organic food, assuming that its just a fad. It is slightly more expensive to eat organic but the truth is it that its the best choice we can make for our health.

America has become aware about the benefits of going green and making strides toward improving our environment but what we should also be concerned about is improving our health. If we can make America healthier one step at a time, a great start would be to allow tax payers to write off some of the cost of organic groceries. Not only will people eat healthier knowing that they will be partially compensated for the cost, it will benefit our country as a whole in many ways.

People who live healthy lifestyles will require less medical care. This is most likely a pipe dream, but it wouldnt hurt if our insurance would cover natural, homeopathic medicine as well as treatments like acupuncture and massage therapy, etc. Healthier citizens are more productive citizens. Employees will be more productive at work as they will be more alert, focused and happier because they will not be full of the toxins that can cause emotional problems, difficulty concentrating and so much more. Children who eat organic food function much better at school and will most likely earn better grades, increasing their chances for a decent job once they have graduated. I feel comfortable stating that the economy can only benefit from such a change.

We have two paths we can take. We can support local business owners like farmers as well as companies offering products that better our health and increase longevity, vs. giving our money to fast food and pharmaceutical companies. Why support businesses like McDonalds that entice prospective customers with visions of cheeseburgers dancing in their heads while delivering our children food that makes them look and feel terrible, not to mention includes meat from sick, hormone-injected cows. Come on guys, mommys taking everyone to McDonalds for dinner! I dont get the concept and the government shouldnt either.

We seem to be taking baby steps toward eating the right foods. Organic sections at grocery stores are growing and consumers are reading the labels before purchasing products. Now we just need the support of our government. If were not going to get rid of enterprises like McDonalds, lets at least offer even more incentives (above and beyond the obvious) for people to eat healthy. If our money goes toward organic food only, I guarantee you that businesses will want to accommodate our needs in order to thrive and our country will blossom from there.

Its time to come out of the closet about organic food. This is not a fad that will change over time- not once people notice the benefits that a nutritional diet can have on their health and appearance. Some people just need a little nudge in the right direction and a tax break just for one year just might do the trick!

I’m a woman who likes to explore alternative therapies. Some work, some don’t. Some are simply the victim of time. We live in a fast-paced world where everyone expects a quick solution. While I often try to stick to the most natural cures and remedies possible, even I will opt for a quick fix once in a while. A wife and mother simply has to function.

That said, over the years I’ve had dozens of conversations with other women about yeast. These are, sadly, just a handful of the symptoms you may experience that can be caused by a systemic Candida infection. The problem is that the moment you walk into a traditional doctor’s office and describe, for example, the distinct symptoms of a bladder infection, you’re likely to walk out the door with a script for antibiotics. Antibiotics will, unfortunately, give the yeast organism something to thrive off of, allowing more fungus to form in your body.

If you are carb conscious just throw the additional chicken in the salad and feed the wrap to the birds once you go outside because they love those extra carbohydrates. Did someone say double meat? For the really big appetite choose double meat. As a bonus it comes with double cheese as an option – and yes I take that option thank you very much! For a guy like myself quickly approaching forty years old this option is certain to add some fat around the waist so I only eat it on heavy workout days where I know my metabolism will burn it off. For the younger guys out there that have trouble gaining muscle let alone fat you might probably go triple cheese and not gain any fat while you build muscle fast.

We can’t always be prepared with a cooler stuffed with ready meals so you’re going to have those days where you eat out. Just don’t make a habit it of it because it will get expensive plus there are a lot of processed additives in these foods that your body just doesn’t need. What chewing does for us.

Digestion begins in the mouth. Saliva contains enzymes needed to begin breaking the food we eat down. Our saliva alters the chemical makeup of the food. Chewing grinds the food which physically changes its structure as well. Take grain for instance. Not only does the saliva begin to change the grain into usable starch (sugar) so our body can absorb it, but the physical action of chewing mechanically breaks the fibers in the food. Your teeth effectively grind your food, so the saliva enzymes can completely penetrate the food you are chewing.

When you chew, your brain sends signals to your stomach and intestines that food is on the way. Your body can prepare itself for everything it will need to properly digest the food you eat. By giving your system a head start, the food you eat is better absorbed and digested. This passes the food more effectively and efficiently through your body. The more nutrients absorbed from the food you eat, the less fat that is absorbed for later use.

The last sentence is worth repeating. The more nutrients that are absorbed from the food you eat, the less fat that is extracted and stored for later use. Ladies listen up, when you eat fast, your system panics, little nutrients are absorbed, but fatis extracted and stored for later use.

What happens when properly chewing is ignored.

Food will not break down properly in your stomach if saliva doesn’t thoroughly saturate your food. Less chewing time means less digestion from the digestive tract. Only the outermost layer of food is properly digested. This limits the small intestine to only get the nutrients from the outside layer. This rotting food causes gas, bloating, and pressure. Since all of the fat was absorbed rather than included with the waste to help make it soft, when water is extracted from the colon, you are left with constipation.
